Mrs. Marilyn McSpadden comes from a long line of educators where both her fraternal grandparents taught in one-room school houses in the Dakota and Oklahoma territories.
She received her B.A. degree in English from Friends University in Wichita, KS. and her M.A. degree in English from Wichita State University with an emphasis in American Literature. Before coming to St. Mary’s, she taught at Goddard High School, Goddard, KS, Shawnee Mission South High School, and Johnson County Community College. This is her 11th year at St. Mary’s and her 21st year of teaching. "My years at St. Mary's have been the most rewarding of my life because this school offers a unique opportunity to bring faith into everything we do. It is an opportunity for both students and teachers to live a more integrated life."
She has been married for 26 years to Bruce McSpadden, who together are the parents of four children (Ryan, Marci, Bret, and Ben) and four grandchildren (Grant, Drew, Emma, and McKinley). Outside of the classroom she enjoys reading, gardening, exercising, and being outdoors.
